One of our non-profits, for example, did much of their fundraising in November to try and catch donations before the end of year. The issue is when the money would come in, it would often be sent in late December when donors were checking out their end of year finances. This means the non-profit would get the money in Jan, have to enter this money into their account and then be able to pay a lot of their bills in Feb. The copier company they were working with only had 30 day terms, so the bill was due in Dec, exactly when they had no money to pay the bill.
Knowing the variable cycle of non-profits, we put together a yearly plan, rather than a month plan and had it due each March. This allowed the non-profit to pay when they had the funding but print when they needed to get the donations.
